We have so many issues with dirt being introduced into the fiber connections that greatly hinders our systems ability to monitor correctly. Every time we go to site we have to pull the fiber connections out of the RSU/SSU and shoot traces to see the condition of the fiber. Every time we do this we introduce risk for damaging or dirtying the connections. I was thinking is there a way to splice a separate connection that we hook our OTDR machine into when we get to site so we can shoot traces but we don't mess with the active fibers.
