Install camera in front of PD with a Sahara-type "hood" to improve CCTV clarity.

PipeDiver petals stir up sediments in older water mains; putting the camera in front with a Sahara-like "hood" to keep particles behind camera should improve video quality. May help stability too.

    A prototype front facing camera for PD has already been developed. Issue with front facing video, centralized on the body is that limited pipe wall info can be gathered given the distance from the wall and wall illumination issues (making client deliverable a challenge).

     

    Discussing this idea with the TPL team it is felt that a front camera isn’t so much a deliverable for the client but more to see how the PD is impacting BFVs and how they effect its travel though unfavorable features.
