For tracking in heavy/inhomogeneous mediums like oil and WW where full tracking point to tracking point chirp detection isn't feasible, but guaranteed passage detection with some approach/departure tracking is acceptable:
The SB would listen for a signal FROM an SMS sensor. When in range of an SMS sensor it would chirp. If these ranges are managed correctly, then the chirp power output could be increased by a factor related to the chirping duty cycle. ie: if you only chirp within 100m of a tracking point, and tracking points are 1km apart, you could increase your chirp power output by 5x for the same runtime.
